Breaking the Ice
with Rachel Ganon

Rachel is the founder and visionary of Offemarket. She is the reason we can still afford all the trendy pieces we see around town and love. Offemarket is an off-price retailer that sells excess inventory 20-80 % off retail price. Rachel also opened up her first physical retail shop in 2023 on Sunset right down the block from our shop. A girl sent from god in my opinion. I vividly recall the day a truck arrived, filled with a vibrant array of merchandise, which initially caused me a moment of concern given the competitive landscape of women's apparel in Los Angeles. Selling women's apparel in LA is challenging. Selling anything is hard these days…. BUT I admire anyone who does it and does it well. Our collaboration soon blossomed into a partnership as we strategized to draw all you lovely customers to our block. We have now coordinated millions of block parties in this past year and we are just now getting ready for this weekend!!
*Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and who you are! Where are you from! What brought you to La? Can you explain how Offemarket came about and what inspired you to get this bussiness started?
I grew up near Nashville, TN and I moved to NYC right after college (22 years in the South was enough for me!). I worked as a retail buyer for many years before starting offemarket. My last job brought me to LA as the first buyer for ban.do - I got to build their buying team from the ground up and work with really amazing indie brands and designers. We ended up with some excess, end-of-season inventory and didn't have any good liquidation options that were in line with our brand and not completely archaic. It's very normal for all brands to have extra inventory that doesn't sell, most brands overproduce by 40% to try to meet demand levels which can be unpredictable. I created offe market to help today's cool, thoughtful brands have a quick and easy way to sell through excess inventory without risking their brand integrity.

*Was there a moment in time that you decided you wanted to work for yourself?
Once I had the idea for offe market there was no turning back! I felt so passionately about the problem that I knew I had to solve it myself.

*Whats something someone starting a bussiness should know that no one tells you?
You'll make a ton of mistakes, no one does it right on the first try. What will make you successful is how you deal with the mistakes, if you're able to turn them into learning and growth opportunities. And you've got to stay agile and keep pivoting based on what's working!
* What is in the queue for Offemarket any fun collabs that you haven’t announce yet? We want the first scoop
Oooo yes always got some fun things up our sleeves - Melissa Shoes... Boyko... Dazey LA !!

*What celebrity would you freak out if you saw them come into the shop?
Emma Grede - I look up to women entrepreneurs the most :)
* If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why.
I'd love to spend a year traveling around Europe and staying a few months in places I love like Lisbon and Copenhagen. It's great to experience cities like a loca
